 | The Company "Korund" has been quickening the pace of restoring its positions on the market where sulphurous anhydride is sold. The proof of this positive development is increasing volumes of this product which is so necessary for pulp and paper mills.
It is known, that 96 % of all sulphurous anhydride that is being produced is used in pulp and paper industry as a bleaching agent. But pulp and paper mills have been recently using material that is being produced by the Finnish company " Kemira ". As for Russian manufactures of this product Volgograd “Khimprom” dominated the market. The company that had conquered the eastern part of this land, namely, Baikal pulp and paper mill, Bratsk pulp and paper mill and Ust-Ilim pulp and paper mill.
"Korund" has always had the biggest capacities of sulphurous anhydride production in this country. And the first batch of the product was exported at the end of March. It is an indicator of stable work of the shop.
Hard and intricate work had preceded this stage. In addition to this we should mention the solution of the problems that arose during the start up of the sulphurous anhydride shop owing to long stoppages. We should also mention the resumption of contacts with our former customers and the search of potential parteners. To sum up agreements concerning the monthly delivery of 150 t of sulphurous anhydride have been concluded with pulp and paper mills from Archangel, Kotlas, Bratsk, Ust-Ilim.
Long term agreements with possible prolongation have been concluded with Kazakhstan, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus. Talks are being held with Finland.
To consolidate its positions "Korund" gradually increases volumes. For example, the volume of sulphurous anhydride production in January was 250 tons, in February – 350 tons, in March 400 tons, we are planning to produce 700 tons in April.
At present need for sulphurous anhydride is from 1300 t up to 1350 t depending on the capacities of a pulp and paper mill. And if “Korund” enters the Russian market then it will be safe to say that 80 % of the Russian market that deals in sulphurous anhydride will belong to “Korund”.
